Grade one frozen frame of a tackle, in the browser, for nothing.
Load a photo or a clip from your phone, scrub to the moment of contact, and TackleLens reads the two bodies and scores the contact against seven coaching checks: head on the safe side, head into the hip-to-thigh zone, both arms wrapping, shoulder into the midsection, knees bent, a braced lean rather than folded at the waist, and the front foot in the contact.
- No account. No sign-up, no email.
- Nothing uploaded. The frame never leaves your phone, so junior footage stays at the club.
- Works offline once loaded, on the sideline with no signal.
Or try one of the bundled example frames:
Loading the pose engineā¦
Film side-on, level with the contact, 6-8 m back, both players in frame. One tackle per clip is plenty.
How it works (and how it costs nothing)
In the browser, on your phone
The pose model runs locally with WebAssembly and WebGL through MediaPipe. There is no server doing the analysis, no queue, no upload and no per-clip fee. Open the page once, and it keeps working offline from the club car park.
Where the checks come from
Head on the safe side and shoulder into the midsection track the law on high and dangerous contact. Both arms wrapping tracks the shoulder-charge law. The rest are the tackle coaching points: sink the hips, braced lean, contact on the front foot. TackleLens measures what a single frame can show and says so when a landmark is hidden.
What it is not
Not a verdict on a player, not a safety certificate, not a head-injury assessment. It is a conversation-starter for the next contact session, and it is honest when the frame is too occluded to read.
The seven checks
| Check | What it reads | Green |
|---|---|---|
| Head on the safe side | head outside the ball carrier's shoulder line, below it | outside and below |
| Head into the hip-to-thigh zone | head height against the carrier's torso (his shoulder line = 0, hip line = 1) | 0.7 - 1.6 |
| Both arms wrapping | both hands on the carrier's trunk, scaled by his torso length | 2 hands within 0.6 torso lengths |
| Shoulder into the midsection | leading shoulder height in the same torso units | 0.5 - 1.35 |
| Bend at the knees | knee angle on the clearest leg | 95 - 150 degrees |
| Braced lean, not folded | tackler's trunk angle from vertical | 8 - 45 degrees |
| Front foot into the contact | lead foot against the carrier on the ground line | under 0.9 torso lengths |
